Rhodes’ infrastructure is not often the most functional in modern standards. On our holidays many of us don’t want to go fully loose on exercising. At the first look Rhodes might look dangerous for runners due to the traffic and disregard of pedestrians. In this article we give you some secret tips where you can find the best jogging spots in Rhodes Greece for running on the island.
Ixia coast
The breathtaking scenery on the coastline will make you forget you’re running. Most of the time it’s at least mildly windy. The turquoise water next to the rocks on the coast will keep your eyes stimulated. The natural soundtrack is the waves hitting the coastline. On the route you will also see the historic neighborhood of “Kritika” which was built for immigrants arriving from Crete after the Ottoman era. Possibility to combine a dip in the sea with your run. The perfect running experience.
The moat of the Medieval Town
It’s difficult to find a jogging route in more historic surroundings. You will be fascinated by the tall medieval walls rising left and right. On the way there are amphitheaters, impressive gates as well as tunnels on this path which lead to the narrow alleys of the old town. An excursion to run (or walk) in the old town is also a possibility, especially outside of the busiest hours. The route on the moat is nearly 2km which is not the longest but you can extend it with an excursion to the alleys of the old town or running back and forth. The terrain is a mix of sand and small rocks which makes it like running in nature for the feet.
Municipal stadium training center
This training center contains a football field and athletics track around it. It is located right next to the “Diagoras municipal stadium”. It is open daily and has two entrances; one on and the other at. It is a great place to go for a run in peace and as long as you like. The terrain is either Tartan Track or grass on the football field.
Eucalyptus avenue
Eucalyptus avenue is located in the area of Kolymbia. If you're staying near the area it is an excellent choice for a running spot as the 2km avenue is filled with eucalyptus trees and will fill the air with essential oils.
